Been working on a cremation urn with a black lacquer finish. The first step in my process is to apply two coats of black, sanding between coats. Have to be carefull not to sand through the black. Then three coats of clear lacquer. Again sanding between coats. Next is rub out the finish with 0000 steelwool, and finally, wax the finish. My goal today is to get all the top coats on. Then all I have to do to the cremation urn is to mount the pewter hardware and the closure system. Ready to ship!
